Bio

I am a Mexican master’s student and myrmecologist from Zacatecas. I am interested in what ants can reveal about the ecosystems, from the deserts of northern Mexico to the tropical forests of Papua New Guinea.

Research project

My project focuses on how ant communities are assembled and how their composition changes along a continuous disturbance gradient, from primary forest to secondary forest and coastal vegetation in the Madang region of Papua New Guinea. To address this, I use taxonomy, DNA barcoding and functional morphology to compare the taxonomic, phylogenetic and functional diversity of ant communities along the gradient.
